Wave Hog Surf Shop

620 Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom, NJ, 08008 · (609) 494-1040

Ship Bottom surf shop on Long Beach Island, trading since 2005 and home of Matador Surfboards, a label riding since 1961. The shop started out building and repairing boards and still shapes every board it sells in-house in New Jersey. Owner Max Dimon handles the repair bench himself and has taken on snapped noses, cracks, dings and full restorations, with fin box installation and replacement shown among the shop's own before-and-after work. Repairs are finished to be clean and strong rather than quick. Alongside the repair bay the shop runs board and bike rentals, surf lessons drawing on more than 35 years of teaching, and its own original apparel line.
